Openings: Basel Week Miami ’09 – “Stages” Exhibition

AM stopped by “Stages” last night on the final leg of its journey.  One of the hottest shows of Art Basel Week opened with many of the artists in attendance including Jose Parla, KAWS, Shepard Fairey (featured), D-zine, Futura, Rossom Crowe, Os Gemeos, Tom Sachs, and Eric White (seen above with his mother – a cancer survivor). The paintings will be auctioned off to benefit LIVESTRONG and the fight against cancer. More pics after the jump…

Preview: Basel Week Miami ’09 – “Stages” @ O.H.W.O.W. Gallery

After it’s start in France in July, “Stages” will make its final stop before the paintings going to the homes of collectors (purchased to benefit LIVESTRONG).  The exhibition will be on location at this year’s Art Basel Miami at O.H.W.O.W. As anticipated, the highly praised “Stages” exhibition made it’s US debut yesterday in a beautiful pop-up space hosted by Deitch Projects in New York’s Soho district. As we mentioned when the show debuted in Paris (covered), “Stages” is a traveling exhibition curated by Nike and Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation to elevate awareness of the fight against cancer with some of the art world’s most influential artists. Close-Up: Lance Armstrong’s “Stages” Trek Art Bikes

This past weekend we previewed the work from “Stages,” (announcement video) the collaborative art project between Lance Armstrong and Nike Sportswear opening tomorrow at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin.
