Along with a big feature on one of the icons of UK street art, you can enjoy the skills of Phill Blake, the […]

Showing: Wayne White – “I’M HAVING A DIALOGUE WITH THE UNIVERSE AND YOU’RE JUST SITTING THERE” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Last week, Joshua Liner Gallery became the venue for Wayne White’s new solo entitled I’M HAVING A DIALOGUE WITH THE UNIVERSE AND YOU’RE JUST SITTING THERE. Transforming the New York showspace by taking over the walls with sculptural cutouts and murals, he then strategically embedded his paintings in place to complete the effect. The artist known for his witty word paintings (and his set and puppet designs for Pee-wee’s Playhouse) even transformed sections into what looked to be huge vintage painting – just like the ones he overlays his text onto. Studio Visits: Wayne White

AM recently got the chance to visit Wayne White in his Los Angeles studio. His workspace is as amazing and surreal as you would imagine, including four foot tall eyes and an oversized mask of former president Lyndon Johnson. Although White is best known in the art world for his paintings that combine vintage imagery with clever, bright colored words, he is also recognizable as the star of the documentary Beauty is Embarrassing and for his work on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.
