Update: Banksy bombs New York

The Internet is abuzz with speculation that the Banksy mural that recently appeared in New York’s Soho is in fact a notice of an upcoming NYC show, perhaps at Deitch. Vicious rumor? Fact or fiction? Only time will tell. AM will keep you informed.

Supreme x Christopher Wool skate deck

The world famous Supreme is at it again. Their latest “artist skate deck” is with contemporary artist Chistopher Wool. Each skatedeck is designed as a work of art. (Wonder if you’ll pop higher ollies on one?) New York based Supreme is known for their exclusive collaborations with world class artists such as Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, and Marilyn Minter to produce very limited edition skate decks. Preview: Aurel Schmidt’s Man Eater @ Deitch

This Saturday, Aurel Schmidt opens her second solo show Maneater at Soho’s Deitch Projects. For those not familiar with the work of this exciting emerging artist, Schmidt’s intricate and detailed drawings combine small elements such as bugs and cigarettes into beautiful and grotesque compositions. When AM attended the Lazarides show in New York, one of the hot rumors floating around was that Banksy was in town bombing New York. Preview: Beyond Baby Tattooville

Had the opportunity to check out the “Beyond Baby Tattooville” exhibit at the Riverside Art Museum a couple weeks back. Strangely enough, opening night is on Oct 4th to coincide with the weekend of Baby Tattooville, but the work was put up for public viewing on Sept 4th. It appears that he noticed a beggar/homeless person sitting in her usual spot next to an ATM and that must have inspired him to produce this new work.
