Have You Ever Really Looked at the Sun is a two-man exhibition featuring two artists who have known each other since 1991 when they met in Cologne — Damien Hirst and Michael Joo. Although this is the first time the duo have worked with each other, they have been in correspondence and discourse regarding their respective artistic practices since they’ve met. Joo’s work in the show explores ideas about identity, nature, and the body. Hirst, as you might expect, focuses on mortality, life, and death. Although most may not yet be familiar with Joo’s work, Hirst’s is instantly recognizable, from his glass cabinets to animals (including zebras and sheeps) in formaldehyde.
The exhibition is open now and continues through August 14, 2010.
