Elmgreen & Dragset

As Frieze Art Fair drew to a close last Sunday, featuring over 170 of the most exciting contemporary art galleries in the world, we have picked up some of our favorite in no particular order:

  • Mary and Child sculpture entitled the Milk of Human Weakness by Jake and Dinos Chapman (previously covered) at White Cube Gallery.
  • Mark Ryden’s painting at Kasmin Gallery.
  • Marc Quinn’s fingerprint painting at Gallerie Theaddeus Ropac.
  • Ryan McGinley pictures at Alison Jacques Gallery.
  • Realistic installations from Nordic duo Elmgreen & Dragset, with Galerie Perrotin showing a life-sized morgue with a lying woman in her Prada shoes, blackberry and pearls, while at Victoria Miro Gallery (London), a monkey standing on a pile of art books is desperately trying to catch a banana, entitled The Fruit of Knowledge.
  • Christian Jankowski’s yacht has also been a much-discussed topic. Depending whether collectors consider it as a motorboat, it would cost €65m, or they could be even more audacious and pay €10m extra for the artist to put his name on it.
  • Michael Landy unique drawing machine at Thomas Dane Gallery. The installation previously exhibited at the London Louis Vuitton store would offer you a free drawing in return for your credit card, which would be destroyed in the most elaborate way of shredding.
