Last month, AM paid a visit to the Mary Boone Gallery in Chelsea to enjoy new works from Tomoo Gokita. Working exclusively in shades of black and white for this exhibition, the Japanese painter has created a series of textured portraits that pay homage to the “dated archetypes lifted of pulp fiction, Hollywood rags, and film noir” with names like Showgirl, Geisha Girl, A Bathing Beauty, Cocktail Pianist from Acapulco, Daughter of a Fraudster, and A Female Spy. Take a look at our photos below and stop by for a look yourself if you are in the NY area before March 1st.
