Within the last five years, The Independent has established itself as one of the must-see satellites during Armory Week in New York. The small fair, which launched in 2010, has tended to present the cutting edge of contemporary art, and with emerging art being today’s hot topic, collectors made sure that they got in early to see what the event had to offer. This year’s complement of 50 international galleries did not disappoint, together displaying a strong and challenging selection of artworks across different mediums. And although painting was certainly very well represented, sculpture seemed to dominate the fair, perhaps in part because The Independent eschews clearly delineated booths, which allows the three-dimensional pieces to separate and define the space. Take a look at our images from Indy2014.
