Ian Strage aka Kid Zoom recently introduced his latest installation, Landed, for the 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. With its focus on architecture, this large, site-specific sculptural work follows his solo exhibitions last year at the National Gallery of Victoria (covered), and at the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch (covered). For this piece, the Australian artist recreated his childhood home, a typical 1920’s suburban house that appears like it’s been dropped on the forecourt of the Art Gallery of South Australia. With it’s large size and odd positioning, taking a cue from The Wizard of Oz, the all black installation is even more distinguished from its surrounding and contrasted against the neo-classical architecture of the museum.
