Ahead of their upcoming exhibition opening on March 12th at the legendary patisserie and gallery, Maison Bertaux, in Soho, London, we met up with the all girl collective HYSTERIA in their Hastings studio. Made up of Collagism, Aida Wilde and Shuby, the UK based collective creates colourful artworks featuring eggs, legs, bananas, bunnies, cats, cupcakes, jewellery and bold iconography using mixed media collage and screenprinting techniques.
Their new body of work explores their relationship between food, sex, gender and symbolism. Their interpretation of celebrity subversion devours pop culture serving it up in as explosive dish of delectable proportions. Spanned across two floors, the exhibition promises riotous visual misconduct and infamous bad behavior using mainstream, historical and religious imagery all to be enjoyed with the sumptuous taste of Maison Bertaux’s legendary tea and cakes. Throughout the tenure of the show, the Hysteria crew will be running a series of workshops and High Tea events, giving visitors and insight into their collaborative workings.
Hysteria runs from 13 March – 15 June at Maison Bertaux, 28 Greek Street, Soho, London W1D.
