Update: Conor Harrington

It looks like the Lazarides Gallery recently stopped by Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) studio to check in on the UK-based painter. What they saw was some amazing new works in progress for his upcoming debut show in New York later this year, presumably a pop up put on by the London-based gallery. Entitled Eat and Delete, the exhibition will include 10-12 large canvases that continues where the Irish artist’s Dead Meat show in London (covered) left off. Over the weekend, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery unveiled the latest solo show, titled Good Knight, by artist Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured). Openings: Mobstr – Sex, Drugs & Painting Canvases

UK-based artist Mobstr (interviewed) recently launched his solo exhibition Sex, Drugs & Painting Walls Canvases at The Old Truman Brewery in London. Following his public works (covered here), the minimalistic street artist has created black and white canvases with witty text messages, flyers to support a ‘save the trees’ campaign, and a series of installations from dummy spray painters to the re-creation of the artist at work surrounded by a sea of draft messages. Spanish artist Liqen, was recently in San Basillio in Rome, Italy, contributing to the ongoing Sanba festival by creating two impressive murals in town. Known for his detailed illustrative technique, and meaningful images, the first wall he painted has a very strong social message. Volvo Art Session is live art project taking place in Zurich’s main railway station that finds “selected Swiss and international artists applying their creativity to a Volvo car” The organizers of the event invited Nychos as one of the artists for their fourth year of the event. One month after his one night show at Kinfolk’s new 94Wythe space in NYC, for which he painted 72 different 12 x 12″ pieces, Sam Friedman opened his solo at the Library Street Collective in Detroit. Tonight in Northampton, Massachusetts, William Baczek Fine Arts will be opening a new show from Travis Louie (interviewed). The exhibition will see the New York-based artist returning to the site of his showing in the area in 2012, and will feature a new body of work collectively entitled Before They Became Heroes or Villains. Featuring his surreal band of misfits and monsters dressed in proper Victorian attire, the paintings are rendered in acrylic but amazingly look like vintage photos. Legendary street artist Space Invader is back in Tokyo where he is preparing for the Japanese premiere of his ART4SPACE movie (covered), in collaboration with Target Gallery.
