One of the art-related activities while in town for South by Southwest this year is taking advantage of multiple opportunities to enjoy Tom Sachs’ work. From the photos we have included here, fans can already see that his exhibition at The Contemporary Austin is a must see. Boombox Retrospective 1999–2015 is a survey of the American artist’s bricolage sculptural pieces inspired by the old school “boombox.” As a bonus, from March 18-20, “influential DJs and producers in electronic and hip-hop music – selected by SXSW Music and Sachs – will use the functional, boombox-inspired sculptures in the artist’s immersive installation as their instruments to create music.” Details here.

In addition, for those who need more, his film A Space Program will debut at SXSW tonight at 9pm (details here). Also, the New York City-based sculptor has a solo currently showing at Lora Reynolds Gallery in Austin.
