Currently at BC Gallery in Berlin, Axel Void has a series of provocative works on display entitled Sehnsucht. The solo show from the Miami-based artist consists mainly of small and large paintings featuring portraits of people with plastic wrapped around their heads as well as some videos (sample here). The idea of the exhibition is to explore the idea of mundanity and the pursuit of purpose in our life, also referenced by the title of the show which comes from the German noun translated as longing, yearning, or craving or in a wider sense a type of “intensely missing” but is more complex than simply those terms.
