After the exclusive press preview held on the 20th of August (covered), the 21st was day zero for Banksy’s newest and biggest show to date. Recently in Maracay, Venezuela, Aryz completed a massive new mural with the help of Huellas del Arte. Painting on a wall that spanned ten stories high, the prolific Spanish street artist chose to create a touching portrait of a father holding his son in his signature aesthetic. Coming up on September 10th, Joshua Liner Gallery will be unveiling ten works on canvas and numerous smaller works on paper from Geoff McFetridge. It Looks Like It Says will be the Los Angeles-based artist’s first solo with the New York showspace and continues his signature aesthetic of simplifying forms, utilizing matte colors, and playing with perspective. Heading back for another show after a year (see 2014), Kevin Cyr (interviewed) will be will be opening Live Work Play at Alden Gallery in Provincetown tomorrow night, August 21st. The new pieces continues his series of documenting neglected vehicles and then returning to his Portland, Maine studio to paint them in detail. Banksy phenomenon once again showed it’s strength, influence and unpredictable nature when his largest project to date, Dismaland, opened doors for the press preview earlier today.
