Previews: Dave Kinsey – “The Modern Condition” @ FFDG

Continuing his exploration of a new series first seen in Cologne & Detroit for a show in San Francisco, Dave Kinsey (featured) has prepared a new body of work entitled The Modern Condition. Comprising of nine works on canvas created with collage and acrylic paints, the new pieces from the Los Angeles-based artist features semi-abstracted figures surrounded with textures and colors from the natural world. Following the theme of this year’s Expo15 in Milan, which is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” Wunderkammern Gallery organized a collateral art project titled Chained. The idea behind this group exhibition is to investigate the dynamics between humans and nature through the works of art contributed by artists in this show. Internationally known, world famous street artist and activist JR (interviewed) spent a good part of a day hanging out in Little Italy working on his latest cliff hanger. El Mac recently teamed up with his friend Augustine Kofie (featured) once again and to paint a new piece entitled Icarian Flight somewhere on the streets of LA. This is not the first time the two locally-based artists have collaborated, and with a good reason we must add after seeing this mural. Releases: Pejac – “Meadow” Print

After his recent Asian tour that included Hong Kong (covered), Seoul (covered) and Tokyo (covered), Pejac returned to his studio in Barcelona to work on his next limited edition release. The image he chose for this release is a black and white version of his large canvas, Meadow, that he painted earlier this week. After a look at Conor Harrington’s new mural for Street Art Doping in Warsaw, we now have photos of the effort from 1010. Like his recent piece in Las Vegas (covered), the German artist painted his signature multi-colored optical illusion on the side of a building. After sharing one side of the silo painted by AEC, one half of the Interesni Kazki, we now have a look at the effort from his partner Waone. Keeping with the theme of Greek mythology, the Ukranian artist added imagery on his side of the structure that reference the Triskelion, a symbol of the sun and the passage of time, but also the symbol of Trinacria, Helios’ Island, or now modern Sicily.
