Starting March 19th, to coincide with Art Basel Hong Kong, the HOCA Foundation will be presenting a new solo from Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) featuring “mythological guardians, fictional tableaux and ornate abstraction.” Entitled Oh Magic Night, the exhibition at Shop B104 – 305, The Pulse (No. 28 Beach Road, Repulse Bay) will see the Brooklyn-based artist return to the city-state after an impressive installation at Harbour City Hong Kong in 2014 (covered). The Japanese artist takes a bicultural approach to creating imagery, in techniques chosen, and as well as in selecting the concepts and themes he wants to focus on. This expansive show will give his fans in Asia prime examples of this with over 50 works including paintings and sculptures. Take a look at some preview images below…
