Your favorite artist was once a kid, spending her or his free time in recess and after-school doodling and crafting away, dreaming of one day becoming the successful artist that they have grown to become. Some of them even had proud parents that kept their childhood work or had the foresight to keep their grade and high school masterpieces. This week at The Underground Museum in Los Angeles, you have the rare opportunity to view these rare works by such well-known now-adults, including Barry McGee, Kenny Scharf, Jen Stark (pictured above), FriendsWithYou, Alex Israel, Ed Ruscha, Catherine Opie, and many more.

A benefit (with an online auction component on Paddle8) will be held tonight, with funds raised in support of ProjectArt’s mission to provide free year-round after-school art classes in public libraries for youth in LA’s underserved communities and beyond. The exhibition will also be open to the public this weekend, April 7 and 8, at The Underground Museum, located at 3508 W Washington Blvd, in Los Angeles. See some of the works below.
