Back in Danish capital after two years when he last exhibited his work alongside Todd James (covered), Barry Mcgee recently opened his debut solo with Eighteen gallery. Showing for the first time in this new Copenhagen space, the legendary artist constructed an immersive installation that took over the entire gallery, floor to ceiling, entrance door to emergency exit. With artworks being displayed everywhere from hidden corners above doorways to the backs of pedestals scattered through the place, the space was temporarily transformed into L. Fong Healing Arts Center. Showcasing all of his signature series of works, from bottle installation to zines and varied memorabilia, Little Savage is McGee’s third show simultaneously on view along with the one at MCA Santa Barbara and the one at Auto Body in Bellport.
