On January 26th, Jason Vass in Los Angeles will be presenting a selection of work from Mark Dean Veca (interviewed), his first solo gallery show in over four years. The Troubled Teens (Work of a Decade) features a carefully curated collection of the locally-based artist’s pop culture-infused paintings created from 2010 – 2019. Often tackling iconic cartoon figures as well as more political charged imagery such as the presidential seal with his contemporary use of Toile du Jouy patterns and his patterned dithering, Dean Veca references art history with his technique, yet at the same time adds his critique on our modern society.
