Mike Stilkey (interviewed) brings his gravity defying book sculptures and paintings to Idaho this week in the form of his solo exhibition Certainly Not Without Serenade to Gilman Contemporary Gallery in Ketchum. Opening on Friday, March 11th, this is Mike’s second solo exhibit with the gallery. Idaho is not usually on our radar, but if you are in the area then this is sure to be a must see as Stilkey’s work is a wonder to take in first hand. Using found books as his canvas, the artist creates assemblages of between a handful and a few thousand books at a time and paints directly onto the covers creating a powerful fusion of art and literature.
