Shepard Fairey did some urban “spring cleaning” in Austin this past weekend in time for the SXSW Festival. Visiting the Lone Star state with buckets of wheat paste and some good old fashion Obey elbow grease, Shepard hit up many prominent spots including Lance Armstrong’s Bike Shop: Mellow Johnny’s, Red 7, Emos, Home Slice, and many more. We have some awesome in-progress pics of gorgeous murals being put up by the man himself.
Shepard Fairey’s 2009 “Hat Trick” list:
January – Washington DC: Inauguration & Manifest Hope (check)
February – Massachusetts for ICA Boston Retrospective (check)
March – “Work” Austin for SXSW and “No Brow” show (check)
More after the jump.
“Shepard – thought you told us at Basel that you were going to take it easy after the inauguration!?” – Now three for three in 2009, working three major cities in the first three months of the year, and we’re not even counting the panel he did in NYC for the public library! How long can Shepard, Nick, and Zee keep this streak up? Uh, wait… aren’t there still nine more months in the year?! Just don’t tell Shep that.
