After presenting The Big Easy with her stunning Thalassa installation at the New Orleans Museum of Art in June, Swoon (interviewed) is moving on to her next project. On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) has commissioned the Brooklyn-based artist to create an installation for the Sandra and Gerald Fineberg Art Wall. As Shepard Fairey’s retrospective museum show “Supply and Demand” landed in Cincinnati this past week for the final stop of the tour, AM was on hand to take part in all of the opening festivities! Shepard Fairey Works a Plea in Boston

After a five month ordeal with Boston authorities, Shepard Faireyâ€™s latest drama has finally come to an end. Shepard, who was arrested on January 22 at the ICA (reported), was initially charged with over 30 counts of vandalism, tagging and destruction of property. Between April and June, the courts threw out over 21 of the charges against Shepard. This past Friday, Fairey consented to a plea deal that will dismiss the remaining 11 vandalism charges. It seems that Shepardâ€™s recentÂ dramaÂ with the AP and Boston’s finest doesn’t phase the higher-ups in the Contemporary Art world. AM has learned that Shepard Fairey’sÂ debut solo museum exhibition “Supply and Demand,” which opened (covered)Â at the Boston ICA in February, will be traveling to at least two other museums. Street artist Shepard Fairey was featured in an awesome segment on CBS News Sunday Morning. The video features an in-depth interview, provides a look at his “Supply & Demand” retrospective at ICA Boston (covered), discusses his recent arrest (covered) and legal issues with the AP, and contains some great footage of a young Fairey from the documentary “Andre the Giant Has a Posse.” Note: There is a brief twenty second CBS commercial preceding the video. Shepard Fairey arrested in Boston

It seems that the Boston Police Department were not at all impressed by Shepard Fairey’s status as Presidential portraiture or his 20-year retrospective at Beantown’s Institute of Contemporary Art. According to The Boston Globe and Huffington Post, Fairey was arrested last night around 9:15pm as he tried to enter the ICA, where he was scheduled to DJ the museum’s sold-out Experiment NightÂ dance-party (with tickets going upwardsÂ $500 on Craigslist).
