Well below the radar for most American and UK collectors, Art Curial in Paris have been putting together stronger and stronger offerings in the Graffiti, Street and Urban Art arena. After the 1980’s “graffiti in art galeries” boom died in the USA, many of the artists continued to do well in continental Europe and we are seeing some classic pieces show up in auctions like the one coming up on June 29th.
There is a strong selection from 80’s NYC Graff Artists like Crash, Daze, Quik, Seen, Futura, Doze Green, Cope 2, Keith Harring, Rammellzee, Jonone and some photos from Martha Cooper, but also a nice selection of more contemporary Street Artists like Blek Le Rat (pieces from the 80’s), C215, Mosko, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JR, Os Gemeos, Nunca, Pez, Bo, Microbo, El Tono, Sixeart and many others.
More pics after the jump…
Guy Denning has a strong piece
And, there is a Banksy street piece that is very unusual as most auction houses wont touch work without Pest Control Certification.
