All of us here at AM are big fans of Josh Keyes’ work, and after our recent trip to Denver for the opening of his latest solo show “Sprout” at David B. Smith Gallery, we thought it would be interesting to look at the interactive installations again after they have been in place for a few weeks to see just how the sprouting went…
Read on for more pictures after the jump.
The Boli sculpture of the deer and the installation of guns in the gallery’s front window were covered in a mixture of soil and seeds, and visitors to the gallery were encouraged to sprinkle more seeds over the objects so that they would develop and grow throughout the duration of the exhibition.
We loved this concept and are pleased to see that some of the seeds did indeed sprout, thanks to a little regular watering and TLCÂ by the gallery staff.
The gallery moves to it’s new location in Denver’s LoDo area for its next show opening on the 17th of this month – Jason Thielke’s “New Works.” David sent us some pictures of the new larger gallery space (see below). Look out for an interview on AM with Jason and some progress photographs of the new work being made in his studio in the coming days.
