Previews: Chris Stain & Joe Iurato – “Deep In The Cut” @ Mighty Tanaka

Tonight, Brooklyn’s Mighty Tanaka will be premiering a duo show with artists Chris Stain (interviewed) and Joe Iurato. Entitled Deep In The Cut, this exhibition pairs two urban artists who feature uniquely different styles, yet both create works utilizing highly technical hand cut stencils. Openings: Os Gemeos @ ICA Boston

Last week, AM took a road trip up to the ICA Boston to catch the opening week of Os Gemeos’ first ever solo museum exhibition in the U.S. The twins Otávio & Gustavo Pandolfo (aka Os Gemeos) took Beantown by storm with not only a mind blowing mural at Dewey Square’s MassDot building, but also took over two of the ICA’s exhibition rooms with a great selection of art including paintings and sculptural work. Streets: JR – Williamsburg (New York)

Yesterday, street photograffeur JR (featured) spent the day creating a fresh mural in Brooklyn. The large building located at 338 Berry St. was in a prime spot overlooking the Williamsburg bridge and its oncoming traffic. Utilizing his signature photography and large-scale wheatpasted handiwork, the French artist made sure to give everyone in the area something to look at. Releases: Futura x Hennessy VS Bottle Chase Pack @ Reed Space

Last night, Hennessy held a preview launch at New York’s Reed Space for their latest VS cognac bottle designed by Futura (seen here). This pop up event was announced via Hennessy’s twitter and exclusive to only the first 50 fans arriving at the location. The line was long, but worth the wait as each fan (over 21) was given a special Hennessy gift pack containing a signed bottle by the graffiti legend himself. Releases: WK Interact – “Struggle” @ Jonathan Levine

Last year WK Interact took to the streets of Paris to share his hardcore style with the folks in France “occupying” the streets. Then, he created a special spread for the inside of  Wired Magazine. Now, he’s continuing the series of work with a special duo-colored screen print entitled Struggle with Jonathan LeVine Gallery. It’s signed & numbered by the artist and limited to an edition of 25. Last week, New York’s New Museum opened a new exhibition entitled Ghost in the Machine. The survey contains over 140 works of art by over 70 artists which explore the relationship between humans, machines and art. Taking over all three main gallery rooms, it providee a unique look at the digital age and its influence/interaction on the artistic movement. Art HK ’12 Art Fair – BMW Art Car x Andy Warhol

This year, Art Hong Kong had a special booth that was not hosted by a gallery, but an automotive company. BMW, long a sponsor of the arts with their Art Car program in where legends like Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella, Jeff Koons and Alexander Calder were recruited to design the exterior of their flagship sports car.
