Openings: Kai-lan (Karen) Chau – “Inner Dialogue” @ Sloan Fine Art

AM recently attended the premiere show for Kai-Lan (Karen) Chau at Sloan Fine Art. The bi-continental artist who works in China and in California for her beloved Nickelodeon hit Ni Hao, Kai-Lan showcased her new body of work that featured animals composed in multiple environments. In addition, Karen took some time to design two detailed fiberglass sculptures from two of her characters. Check it out after the jump.

Openings: Homeroom Redu @ Reed Space

AM attended the opening night for a special charity group show hosted by Reed Space. Coordinated to raise dollars in an effort to offset the lack of funding in today’s public school system. 2010 Whitney Annual Gala & Studio Party

AM recently attended the Whitney American Museum’s Annual Gala and Studio Party celebration. The focus was to raise funds to continue the goal of supporting emerging and established American artists. Openings: Xiaoqing Ding – “At the End of a Rainbow” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

Opening recently alongside Tara McPherson was Brooklyn artist Xiaoqing Ding with her new exhibition “At the End of a Rainbow” at Jonathan Levine Gallery. The show demonstrates Xiao’s flexibility to work on various mediums and still keep her luminous subjects intact. While most of her pieces utilizing oil or fine graphite techniques, she also experiments in utilizing Asian mediums and presentation such as scrolls and traditional wood sculpt frames.
