Streets: Lonac (Zagreb)

Following in the footsteps of innovative artists before him like Blu & INSA, Lonac has created an animated piece in Zagreb, Croatia. Painted by the locally-based artist in a secret location, the detailed heart has blood pumping through (although in the wrong direction). Dan May – “Daily Creature Project”

The Daily Creature Project is a continuing series of studies that Dan May (interviewed) has been creating every day. Each one features one of the surreal, hairy subjects that the northern Michigan-based artist has been known to paint. Following collaborations with Dustin Yellin, JR, and Faile, the New York City Ballet will be working with Marcel Dzama on their fourth annual Art Series. The Brooklyn-based artist will be unveiling a Promenade chessboard installation featuring video, drawings, and sculpture as well as designing the sets and costumes for The Most Incredible Thing, which is based on a Hans Christian Anderson story. Yesterday, Tristan Eaton revealed a project he has been working on getting started for the past five years – a plan to paint the Red Sands Sea Forts off the coast of the UK along with Shepard Fairey, Futura, How & Nosm, and The London Police. Starting on February 11th, the Seattle Art Museum will be hosting a solo exhibition from contemporary portrait painter Kehinde Wiley. A New Republic will feature a selection of the American artist’s work that could be said to be a remix of Old Master paintings where the classic European subjects are typically replaced by young urban men of color, playing with ideas of power and breaking down stereotypes.
