Upcoming: Cleon Peterson – “Poison” @ Library Street Collective

Provocative painter Cleon Peterson has worked with the Library Street Collective before like during last year’s Art Basel Week in Miami (covered). Their new collaborative effort, a show entitled Poison, will be opening on August 29 at the LSC gallery space in Detroit and will no doubt feature more powerful and barbaric imagery from the former assistant to Shepard Fairey, drawing from his experiences and dark past. Streets: Ernest Zacharevic (Warsaw)

Following up on our coverage of the Conor Harrington & 1010 murals for the Street Art Doping festival, we now have photos of the piece that Ernest Zacharevic painted. Only a few weeks ago, the Lithuanian artist was in Lisbon setting up his current show (covered), and now he has completed a whimsical new mural in Warsaw. Releases: James Jean – “Pescados” Print

On August 8th, James Jean (interviewed) will be offering up another time-limited print on his webstore entitled Pescados. Each one (image size: 8 ⅜″ tall × 6 ¼″ wide, paper size: 11 ⅜″ tall × 7 ¼″ wide) is signed and numbered and will cost $100. The edition size will be determined by the number of orders in a 48 hour window from 12:01 AM PDT on Saturday, August 8th until 11:59 PM on Sunday, August the 9th. Discuss James Jean here.

Openings: Josh Keyes & Brin Levinson – “Reclamation of Nowhere” @ Antler Gallery

Last week, Josh Keyes (interviewed) returned to the Antler Gallery for a joint showing with Brin Levinson entitled Reclamation of Nowhere. Their imagery meshed nicely together with Keyes’ creatures interacting with what may be a post-apocalyptic urban landscape and Levinson working with the same nature versus man themes but with a different atmosphere. The show runs through the 26th of this month for those in Portland who want to stop by themselves for a look. Discuss Josh Keyes here.

Showing: Hannah Stouffer & Hilary White – “Ingress/Egress” @ Paradigm Gallery + Studio

Currently at Paradigm Gallery + Studio in Philadelphia, Hannah Stouffer & Hilary White have a joint show on display entitled Ingress/Egress. Both artists’ work fit well together with Stouffer’s colorful geometrical and naturalistic compositions melding nicely with White’s more dimensional and vibrant abstractions. The exhibition runs through September 12th so stop by for a look yourself if you are in town.

Upcoming: “Shared Space : KAWS, Karl Wirsun, Tomoo Gokita” @ Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane

Coming up on September 9th, the Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane will be hosting Shared Space : KAWS, Karl Wirsun, Tomoo Gokita. The artists involved are obvious from the title, but the interesting arrangement will see 17 works from KAWS on display, but also seen will be pieces from his personal collection – 26 works by Karl Wirsum including drawings, paintings, and sculptures from 1968 to 2011, as well as 9 faceless portraits and one sculpture by Tomoo Gokita. Upcoming: Os Gemeos – “Parallel Connection” @ Times Square (New York)

Joining artists like Ryan McGinley and Tracey Emin before them, Brazilian sensations Os Gemeos will be presenting an animation of their characters starting tomorrow from 11:57pm to midnight each night in August at New York’s Times Square. Parallel Connection is the title of this new project, which will light up the electronic billboards of one of NYC’s most iconic intersections. Streets: Ron English (New York)

Back in 2012, we covered the first mural in Manhattan from Ron English (featured) in over 25 years, featuring his signature Temper Tot figure, a play on The Incredible Hulk. Over the last couple days, the New York-based artist has added a pink brother to the original piece on an adjacent wall for the L.I.S.A Project. Located on 114 Mulberry Street in Little Italy, the matching murals are dedicated to English’s kids Zephyr and Mars, the original Temper Tots. Discuss Ron English here.
