Streets: Deih (Istanbul)

Take a look at this sweet comic-inspired wall painted by Deih recently for the Mural Istanbul festival. The character rendered beautifully in vibrant colors by the Spanish artist seems to be doing something of cosmic significance. Other artists scheduled to take part in the event include Aryz, Canavar, Cins, Esk Reyn, Kristy, Levi, Nuka, Qbic, and Wicx. Take a look at more detailed images and in-progress shots below…

Update: Kate MccGwire

Known of her undulating sculptural creations through the unconventional use of feathers, Kate MccGwire currently has some works on display at various locales. Some of her pieces are at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol alongside work from Peter Randall-Page (through September 10th) – you can read more about it here. Previews: “Invisible College” @ Fort Wayne Museum of Art

This weekend, a show co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art will open at the museum. Entitled Invisible College, the group exhibition refers to the fact that many of the participants have found success outside of the traditional art educational model. Releases: Annie Owens x Pressure Printing – “Yee Naaldlooshi (Skinwalker)” Print

Our friends over at Pressure Printing have just released a new print from Annie Owens entitled Yee Naaldlooshi (Skinwalker). Produced in a run of 40 and based on a watercolor from Owens, the limited edition is sized at 18 ¼” × 14″ and costs $250. Streets: 1010 (Las Vegas)

After sharing a massive new mural in Paris from 1010 with you back in May, we now return with a smaller project he worked on in Sin City. Painted for the Life Is Beautiful festival in Downtown Las Vegas and arranged by JustKids, the new mural takes advantage of a unique three part structure in the financial district. Solving the unique architectural challenge, the German artist was able to paint his signature rainbow colored three dimensional optical illusion and leave his mark in Nevada’s biggest city for years to come. This Saturday, July 11th, White Walls Gallery will be opening a solo from Mear One (interviewed) entitled Cognitive Dissonance. The new showing in San Francisco will feature a series of large oils and acrylics, some of which he has been working on and off on for the past several years. Previews / Setup: Faile – “Savage/Sacred Young Minds” @ Brooklyn Museum

With the opening fast approaching at the end of next week, Faile (featured) has ramped up their setup for their solo at the Brooklyn Museum. Entitled Savage/Sacred Young Minds, the exhibition from the locally-based artistic duo will features a diverse selection of works from their oeuvre including multimedia installations, large-scale paintings, and sculptures as well as a revival of the Deluxx Fluxx Arcade with their long time collaborator Bast.
