LA Art Show ’15: Littletopia

LA Art Show ’15: Recap

Last week, AM attended the LA Art Show to see what the fair had to offer collectors in Los Angeles. Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “The Ghost of G Sharp 7” Print

Later today, January 23rd at 12 noon PST, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be releasing a new print through her online store. Entitled The Ghost of G Sharp 7, the 24″ x 30″ giclee will be produced in a run of 100 with hand applied glitter. Auctions: NURTUREart – Inspired by Andy Warhol @ Paddle8

Currently through January 27, Paddle8 is running an auction to benefit NURTUREart, a non-profit institute dedicated to nurturing new contemporary art by providing exhibition opportunities and resources for emerging artists, curators and public school students. Brendan Monroe Paints Facebook Offices

Like Aakash Nihalani (interviewed) did in 2011 (covered) and how David Choe (featured) famously did (and was rewarded handsomely) in the early days, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was recently invited in to paint part of the Facebook HQ compound. Working on a large wall, the Bay Area-based artist created a topographical mural with the his signature organic and biological infused imagery. Openings: Mark Jenkins – “Moment of Impact” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Last week, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) premiered his debut solo show with Lazarides Rathbone entitled Moment of Impact. For his fans in London, the American artist has assembled a selection of provocative mixed media canvases and hyper-realist sculptures. Some pieces like his masked full-size figures are direct translations of his street interventions while others are produced for the gallery setting like the leg which seems to be bursting through a canvas or arms committing seppuku.
