Releases: Phil Frost Originals @ The Pancake Epidemic

It’s not often that you see work from Phil Frost available these days, especially at solo shows – with the last we have seen being in 2010 (covered). But, thanks to The Pancake Epidemic, you can now now add some small originals from the NY legend just in time for Christmas. Check out these originals on paper, made from 2005 – 2008, which all feature Frost’s signature patterns and imagery. Head over here for those interested… Discuss Phil Frost here.

Openings: Bob Dob – “Mouseketeer Army” @ La Luz de Jesus

Back in November, the La Luz de Jesus gallery in Los Angeles hosted all new works from Bob Dob (alongside Nathan Ota’s solo). Entitled Mouseketeer Army, the showing featured 76 new paintings that could be arranged together into the shape of his surreal take on the American Flag and were thematically based on a back story of the radical Youth International Party invading Disneyland. Rounding out the exhibition were a series of large-scale three dimensional works based on the Southern California-based artist’s most popular characters. Discuss Bob Dob here.

Openings: Laura Ball – “Minotaur” @ David B. Smith

Last week, the David B. Smith Gallery presented all new watercolors from Laura Ball collectively entitled Minotaur. While exploring the PULSE art fair (covered) in Miami, we came across several of the paintings that will be in the show which we shared with you here. Now with these new photos, you will be able to appreciate the new entire body of work which features her signature creative amalgamations of smaller creatures to form larger animals. Videos: Takashi Murakami – “Jellyfish Eyes” Trailer

It looks like the details to the new film Jellyfish Eyes from Takashi Murakami are slowly being fleshed out with the recent appearance of a teaser video. Scheduled for a release on April 26th, 2013 in Japan, the live-action feature film, the origins of which Murakami dreamt up over 10 years ago, appears to have some major players in the industry on board. Videos / Releases: Shepard Fairey x Mike Miller – “Compton’s Most Wanted” Print

With the recent release of the Shepard Fairey print featuring the use of Mike Miller’s photograph of Eazy E (still available here), the duo decided to record a video detailing the entire project. Shot while they were signing the limited edition collaboration, the footage features an interview with the two talented artists while they talk about how the print came about, their opinions on Eazy E & NWA, and much more… Via Hypebeast. Audrey Kawasaki x Hint Mint Party

Recently, the art-loving Hint Mint company threw a private party at their headquarters to celebrate the release of a set of designs by Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed). Aside from checking out the original paintings that served as the imagery for the new series, other perks available to those in attendance. Releases: Scott Musgrove – “Mutations” Print

Quality print publishing company Pressure Printing recently released a new print from Scott Musgrove’s (featured) entitled Mutations. The image chosen is another one of the Seattle-based painter’s imaginary species – this time interlocking rodents. As usual, the limited edition (run of 30) from PP comes with loving detailed touches (hand-stained, embossed, debossed and foil stamped) comes encased in an antiqued frame. Basel Week Miami ’12: Joshua Liner Gallery @ PULSE

While checking out the PULSE art fair (highlights here) during Basel Week Miami, we made sure to stop by the Joshua Liner booth to see what they had to offer.
