Currently showing at L&M Arts in Los Angeles through June 16th is a selection of work from renowned American sculptor and artist Alexander Calder, some never seen before by the public. Including in the exhibition are over 40 indoor and outdoor works including mobiles, stabiles and gouaches, that span from 1938 to 1975. Images via the gallery. Discuss Alexander Calder here.

Streets: Flying Fortress x Nychos (Dublin)

Last weekend in Dublin, Flying Fortress and Nychos collaborated on a sweet mural for the All City Tivoli Jam. This isn’t the first time the two have worked together if you remember the piece they painted several months ago in Vienna entitled “The Anatomy of Mother Bear Giving Birth” when FF visited his friend Austrian friend. This time around, the Fortress’ signature character is again dissected in Nychos’ distinctive style. Discuss Flying Fortress here.

Coming up on June 15th, the Ivory & Black Soho will be presenting their first group exhibition featuring artists Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. Entitled Gin & Juice, the show features painters who hae been influenced by the Californian subcultures they hail from with diverse imagery ranging from the humorous, the macabre, the playful, the violent, to the idealistic.

After showing across the pond last year in London, Evan Hecox will returning to the states for his latest solo at the Joshua Liner Gallery, site of his last New York exhibition in 2009. After a series of inspiring murals with Jose Parla in Cuba as part of his ever-expanding Wrinkles Of The City project and a TED Talk on the one year anniversary of his wish to turn the world Inside Out, JR has returned to New York for a new large-scale mural. Set next to the popular pedestrian walkway, The High Line, the piece took several days to complete and will be testament to the French photograffeur’s skills in a high-traffic location. After putting a new piece up at the revolving mural project Le M.U.R in Paris (covered), Vhils headed home to work on another wall in Lisbon. In contrast to the one in France where he used techniques similar to what you see from the artist for some pieces in gallery shows, this new piece in Portugal sees his classic chisel and hammer technique. Releases: Parra x Kidrobot – “Pierced” Figure

On June 7th, Kidrobot will be releasing (in-store and online) a new figure from Dutch artist Parra entitled Pierced. The 10-inch vinyl sculpture is inspired by the melodramatic cover art of romance novels and based on imagery from his original silkscreen artwork. The entwined figures which demonstrate the simultaneous pain and pleasure that many experience while in love will set collectors back $150 and will be limited to an edition of 300. Via mashKULTURE.
