Signings: David Choe @ SFMOMA

Last week AM visited the SFMOMA to catch the signing of David Choe’s (featured) monograph  (previewed) from Chronicle Books. The crowd of fans waited patiently to get some face time with the accomplished artist. David, as usual, took his time greet his loyal Bay Area followers and for a lucky few, even created mini sketches in their books. Check it out after the jump.

Fame Fest ’10: Word to Mother

When we referred to a look at Word to Mother (interviewed) studio several days ago, we mentioned he was in Italy working on his efforts for the Fame Festival. Well, here is a look now at the murals he put up while in Grottaglie. He also found time to work on an installation for the gallery show and some hand finished (with watercolor) screenprints. More pics after the jump…

Preview: “JEST in Time: The Phylogenesis of Clowns” Benefit @ Distinction Gallery

Clowns are different things to different people. Some have an intense fear of clowns (Coulrophobia), or for some, they are a source of amusement and entertainment. These costumed and masked performers are also fertile subject matter for artists (here and here), but the exhibition we are letting you know about this time, “JEST in Time: The Phylogenesis of Clowns”, will be a benefit show (with all profits to benefit ArtHatch and art scholarships at Palomar college). You can also get a clue as to what […]

Renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor is currently showing at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the first large-scale survey of the artist’s work to be seen in Spain. In a fascinating series of videos, Kapoor gives a tour of each of the major pieces in the exhibition. Not only do we get to see some nice footage of the show, we also get an explanation of each artwork from Kapoor himself. See videos part 2 – part 7 after the jump…

Showing: “Relationships” @ Gallery Christoffer Egelund

One of our astute readers in Copenhagen, Henrik Haven, recently took some pictures for us of the “Relationships” group show currently showing at Gallery Christoffer Egelund. The exhibition features three artists that we like – Tim Biskup, Miss Van, and Victor Castillo – as well as a fourth artists we weren’t familiar with – Michael Swaney. The exhibition nicely hung against the clean backdrop and spacious venue looking like something that should not be missed if you are in the area.  More pics after the […]
