During our recent travels abroad to catch the opening of Banksy’s Dismaland, we also made a few stops to see friends of ours across the pond. Upcoming: Daniel Arsham @ YoungArts (Miami)

Tomorrow (September 24), as part of YoungArts Awareness Day, sculptor Daniel Arsham has prepared a special interactive event in Miami. Similar to his current exhibition in Hong Kong (covered), the Brooklyn-based artist will have an installation of his “future relics” on display, with nearly 2,000 objects made of chalk that visitors can use to draw or write their impressions of the future. Releases: Jen Stark – “Drip Cascade” Print

On Thursday, September 24th, Jen Stark will be releasing a new good-sized print entitled Drip Cascade. The imagery used is easily recognizable as one from a series of works from the Los Angeles-based artist playing with psychedelic colors and patterns. Produced in an edition of 200 (with 9 AP’s), it measures 24″ x 30″, and will cost $550. Head over here at 4 pm Eastern Time if you are interested in adding it to your collection. Thursday night (6-9pm) in New York, Aaron Li-Hill (interviewed) will be unveiling a new installation at Soundwall entitled Resonance. Featuring the signature kinetic energy and geometric lines seen in the Brooklyn-based artist’s work (example above), the new piece is certainly something you want to see in person. Showing: Karla Ortiz – “Omens” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Opening alongside The Gilded Age, Thinkspace brings us Karla Ortiz’s Omens in the gallery’s Project Room. The San Francisco illustrator has delivered several new graphite drawings, each a miniature view into the life of their subject. With a hint of shamanism, the renders provide plenty of mystery and wonder, despite their size. Omens will be on view until October 3rd.

Currently at Quint Gallery in La Jolla is a showing from Kelsey Brookes that coincides with the release of his new book Psychedelic Space. On display are a series of paintings and prints as well as a video that explains his recent series of works that use the molecular structures of neurotransmitters and psychedelic substances as their starting point. Previews: Paul Wackers – “New Alphabet” @ Alice Gallery

After a showing there in 2012, Paul Wackers will be returning to Brussels for another showing at Alice Gallery. The American artist has a new body of work to present entitled New Alphabet, and has been living in the capital of Belgium at the Encore space next to the gallery. Tomorrow (September 17th) in London, Anish Kapoor and Ai Weiwei will be joining forces for a walk to bring awareness to the 60 million refugees in our world today. Each will carry a blanket as a symbol and everyone who is interested is invited to join them with a blanket as well. Jeff Soto (interviewed) has just teamed up with 1xRUN for a print release entitled Owl Of Infinite Knowledge. This newest offering from the Riverside-based artist featuring the nocturnal bird of prey is part of the Murals In The Market Featured Artist Print Series, corresponding with the Murals In the Market festival opening later this week. The event organized by 1xRUN and Eastern Market Corporation, will see nearly 50 murals go up over 9 days in Detroit’s Historic Eastern Market along with a group exhibition opening at Inner State Gallery.
