Ian Strage aka Kid Zoom recently introduced his latest installation, Landed, for the 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art. With its focus on architecture, this large, site-specific sculptural work follows his solo exhibitions last year at the National Gallery of Victoria (covered), and at the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch (covered). Over the weekend, AM stopped by Blum & Poe in Culver City to check out the new expansive exhibition from Yoshitomo Nara. The solo is the Japanese artist’s seventh with the gallery and includes a selection of new paintings, a series of large-scale bronze sculptures, and a survey in the upstairs space of drawings made over the last thirty years displayed in a chronological order. Releases: Josh Keyes x Tiny Showcase – “The Hermit” & “Migratory Soul” Prints

Currently until Tuesday, March 11th, Tiny Showcase will have two prints available for purchase individually or as a set from Josh Keyes (interviewed). Although the originals were painted for different shows, the two pieces seemed destined to end up together due to their synchronous imagery. You can now add both for your collection for $60 or separately for $35 each with $10 from each sale donated to the Ocean Conservancy. Discuss Josh Keyes here.

On March 21st, Geoff McFetridge will be opening a new solo at V1 Gallery, his second with the Copenhagen showspace after a successful stint there in 2011 (covered). Streets: Andrew Schoultz @ SXSW

After attending this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii and completing a large collaborative mural for the event, Andrew Schoultz headed to Austin, Texas for his next project. Juxtapoz & Converse have teamed up to bring the Los Angeles-based artist to SXSW where he painted another big wall, this time with a sweet tank embellishment. Isaac Lin Mural @ Elixr Coffee (Philadelphia)

Elixr Coffee in Philadelphia is continuing their art program by commissioning Isaac Lin to create an indoor mural at their city center location. After Jim Houser painted one back in August (covered), this was the third piece they have commissioned from local creatives. Lin is a versatile artist who painted a wall for the Philadelphia International Airport last year, created one of his images that is strongly influenced by cartoons and calligraphy, as well as his passion for graffiti. On April 5th, the OHWOW Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting new works from Daniel Arsham entitled Kick the Tires and Light the Fires. The American artist is known for his sculptural “relics” that take modern items and recreates it in such a way that makes it appear as it would if found in the future as part of an archeological dig as well as works based off himself that resemble the victims of Pompeii.
