Upcoming: Paul Wackers – “Early Romantics” @ New Image Art

Later tonight (February 16), New Image Art will be presenting all new works from the Brooklyn-based Paul Wackers. Building on the last solo show we witnessed back in 2011 in New York (covered), Wackers continues exploring his form of still life painting which takes the additional step of adding geometric and abstract elements, but also evokes memories of the work of old master artists. Last week, New York artist Rostarr (featured) unveiled his latest body of work in Mexico City at Anonymous Gallery. This inspiring series of paintings entitled Turbo Arena draws from his hypnotic signature style that is a smooth mash-up of iconography, graphics & calligraphy. On the occasion of José Parlá’s return to London for a solo showing at Haunch of Venison, NOWNESS has released a new video titled the same – Broken Language. Tracey Emin Lights Up Times Square

Every night this month, at 11:57 pm, Time Square in New York will be lit up with work from Tracey Emin. The English artist’s iconic “neon” messages will spell themselves out over three minutes, digitally animated (which can be purchased as s[edition]) on 40 screens of different sizes placed all around the famous intersection in Midtown Manhattan. Last week, AM decided stroll by 111 Minna Gallery to check out David Choong Lee’s latest effort, Organic Updates (previewed), which features a series of large clusters consisting of wood panels of painting, graffiti and collage, that are arranged to give the work a massive organic feel. I forgot to ask if purchase comes with a diagram for installation (maybe David is willing to consult via Skype).
