Slow Your Roll, the first UK solo show by Brooklyn art duo Skewville, launched last Friday at High Roller Society. AM took advantage of the East London gallery’s new Sunday opening hours to visit over the weekend in the calm of a non-preview atmosphere. Last Saturday saw the grand opening of OHWOW Gallery’s Los Angeles location. Batting in the lead-off exhibition spot was New York’s tattoo rooted artist Scott Campbell with his latest body of work entitled Noblesse Oblige (previewed). The name of the show implies that “whoever claims to be noble must conduct their life accordingly and in a manner that conforms to one’s position.” In other words, keep it real. On Thursday, we attended the opening of the new show by Lamar Peterson at Chelsea’s Fredericks & Freiser. Peterson’s talent lies in his ability to immediately draw in viewers, using bright colors, smiling faces and trompe l’oeil elementary-school style borders to create work that at first glance seems easy and accessible. Studio Visit: Polly Morgan

AM recently had the opportunity to go visit Polly Morgan in her East London studio. We anticipated what we might see. Tales of Polly’s ‘chamber of horrors’ from friends who had visited previously sounded intriguing and exciting, and this promised to be a very different studio visit experience for us. With his next exhibition, The Magician’s Garden (teased), right around the corner, Josh Keyes (interviewed) has taken some time out to once again teamed up with Tiny Showcase for their fifth collaborative effort to raise funds in the name of charity. When AM recently visited Shepard Fairey at his studio in Los Angeles, he also took us on a private tour of Subliminal Project’s latest exhibition Too Fast To Live, Too Young to Die. The group show curated by Katherine B. Volta ’11 – Richard Colman @ V1 Gallery

Another great artist to be featured at this year’s VOLTA fair’s solo format was Richard Colman (interviewed). Represented at Copenhagen’s V1 Gallery booth, the San Francisco based artist impressed us with a diverse selection of his signature colorful and geometric works. Check it out after the jump.

We recently attended the opening of Hueless, a group show of black and white works at Malick Williams & Co. Although the exhibition may have lacked color, it certainly did not lack artistry, with an exciting selection of monochromatic pieces by the likes of D Face, Shepard Fairey, Erik Haze, Curtis Kulig, Pete Watts and Skullphone.
