This Saturday, November 9th, the Bunsen Goetz Gallery in Nuremberg, Germany will be hosting a two person show from Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242. The two friends and studio mates, who recently travelled together to Luxembourg (covered), will be returning to Europe with new works playing with “themes of love, sexuality, and spirituality” for Fire Within. In association with the exhibition, the two artists from Riverside, California (Nuremberg’s sister city) will be giving a talk at the German-American Institute at Nuremberg on Thursday, November 7th at 7 pm. Upcoming: “Black Moon” @ Model Citizen Studios

Open for two days only starting tonight, Black Moon is a group exhibition featuring four California-based artists Jessicka Addams, Camille Rose Garcia (seen above), Elizabeth McGrath, and Marion Peck. Curated by Alix Sloan, the show will feature Addams’ octopi-related imagery, CRG’s recent obsession with bats, McGrath’s three-dimensional art, and Peck’s clown portraits. Previews: Marco Mazzoni – “Naturama” @ Roq La Rue

On November 7th, Marco Mazzoni is presenting his newest body of work alongside Lindsey Carr at the Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle. The works from the Naturama show are focused on the rituals of struggle between animals in the wild, and the impossibility of harmony in nature. Known for his surreal images, mostly showing parts of wildlife in strange interactions or even symbiosis, the Italian artist has prepared another series of such drawings and paintings for this show. While looking beautiful and calming, these works actually show those harsh moments in which nature […]

Openings: Ron English – “Popogandastan” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last Saturday night, fans of Ron English (featured) packed the opening of his newest show at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, eager to see a new body of work that has been two years in the making. Popogandastan featured pieces that explored the gifted painter’s incredibly detailed world, filled with his surreal cast of characters and lush backgrounds. These need to be seen in person to be appreciated fully so head over if you are in the area before the close date of November 22nd. Discuss Ron English here.
