With their signature yellow characters and bright array of hometown colors, we see them create another stunning exhibition with installations of cars, boxes and visually interactive goodies for the lucky folks of Brazil. Update: Shepard Fairey – May Day @ Deitch Projects

Looks like more information is coming out about the upcoming Shepard Fairey show at Deitch Projects (teased). The exhibition entitled “May Day” (for multiple reasons) will feature mostly portraiture celebrating some of the artists, musicians and political activists the artist most admires, although this flag piece is pretty sexy too… Says Fairey, “These people I’m portraying were all revolutionary, in one sense or another. They started out on the margins of culture and ended up changing the mainstream. When we celebrate big steps that were made […]

Openings: Ian Francis – “Exodus” @ Lazarides

Our most anticipated show of the year thus far opened in London this week at Lazarides and we had to make the trip down to see Ian Francis’ (featured) “Exodus”. We teased you a few images last week, but now we can bring you some shots from the opening of the paintings and charcoal pieces the show comprised of. Video: Mark Warren Jacques – “Mind Visit”

Portland artist Mark Warren Jacques (interviewed) will be returning to San Francisco soon and has released a video in conjunction with his visit. Entitled “Mind Visit”, the short film is an exploratory journey into both the mind and studio of the young artist as he diligently prepares for his part in the upcoming group show “New Territory” debuting next weekend at White Walls. Equally haunting and enlightening, “Mind Visit” is less of a welcoming insight than it is a seemingly drug induced and slightly voyeuristic […]

Releases: “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” by Zoltron

Following the recent trend of turning award winning movies into collectible posters (such as last month’s Inglourious Basterds release) the Academy Award nominated film, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, has recently received the print treatment by designer Zoltron. Though Zoltron has been in the poster/design world for many years doing album covers and flyers, he may be more recognizable to AM readers as the one who printed the half a million Shepard Fairey designed Obama “Hope” stickers, along with the thousands of Upper Playground x Obama […]
