Update: Banksy vs. Robbo

Based on pictures from Robbo and his crew, it looks like they have gone and modified more Banksy pieces, warping their meanings. If you remember this all started in Camden with a stencil Banksy put up over a vintage Robbo tag, with the ensuing retaliation (here & here) from Robbo. Not sure how long the graffiti artists plans to continue defacing pieces from Banksy, but it seems a little much now… More images after the jump…

This past March 4th will end up being a significant date in the history of Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. The standard-bearer of all contemporary art galleries in the world premiered a major addition to their 90210 space. In addition, Andreas Gursky, one of the most well-known artists working in the photography medium, opened his newest major solo exhibition at the gallery. Streets: D*Face x Oscars

UK street artist D*Face (featured) recently stopped by Los Angeles to install some well-timed “Zombie Oscar Statues” last week. The two seven foot sculptures were installed in two locations – atop Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood near where the 82nd annual Academy Awards (Oscars) were being held at the Kodak Theatre. On Saturday night, Deitch Projects hosted the opening for the ever talented contemporary artist: Rosson Crow. Her latest show “Bowery Boys” featured her talented nostalgic snapshots of the streets of lower Manhattan. The beautifully rendered works featured periods from the 1800’s to the current landscape depicting the gritty urban facades of the “Big Apple”.
