Streets: Roa in Paris

Belgium-based street artist Roa continues his assault on decrepit buildings and infrastructure with some new work from Paris, possibly done when he was in town for his show at Galerie Itinerrance. As usual, many of his pieces are created in such a way to playfully interact with all the nooks and crannies at his carefully selected sites. More images on Unurth and after the jump…

Oh, how time flies! It seems not that long ago, we were running around New York during Armory Week. But it’s actually been almost a year, and the 2010 ARMORY Art Show is now just around the corner. Openings: Tessar Lo & Nimit Malavia @ Show & Tell Gallery

Tessar Lo and Nimit Malavia recently opened their shows: “Everything we wanted in our nostalgic future” and “I can’t love you but we can romance” (respectively) at Toronto’s Show and Tell Gallery. For both artists, this was their first solo show in Canada. Not surprisingly, Toronto art fans filled the house to see the works from the two talented artists. Andreas von Chrzanowski (aka Case) opened his first UK solo with the Signal Gallery (in conjunction with Campbarbossa) this past Thursday night with the finished works were nothing short of sharp and interesting. Utilizing his talents with the spray can, Andreas worked his crisp techniques onto numerous found mediums from books to wood to canvas. Hot on the heels of Martin Wittfooth’s solo show, “Tempest”, opening last weekend at Copro Gallery (previewed here), Virtu Gallery has just released a new fine art edition from the New York based artist. “The Blind Fisherman”, one of AM’s favourite paintings by Wittfooth from last year – the original painting first seen at Jonathan Levine’s Beach Blanket Bingo 2009 summer group show (covered here) – is now available in signed and numbered editions of 40 on varnished paper and an uber-limited edition of 10 on varnished canvas. Opening tonight in the main gallery space of LeBasse Projects is “Deva Loka Los Angeles”, a new body of work from Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano. For anime fans out there, you may recognize his work from Vampire Hunter D and for the video game aficionados, you must know of his character designs for Final Fantasy. Streets: Swoon

It looks like Swoon (Interviewed) recently visited Philadelphia and gifted the city of brotherly love with some of her street pieces. In town for Philagrafika 2010, the city’s international festival celebrating print in contemporary art, Swoon’s wheatpastes blended in nicely with the snowy landscape.
