Kehinde Wiley @ Deitch Projects

Down, an exhibition of new paintings by Kehinde Wiley, opens this Saturday at Deitch Projects. The exhibition supposedly will consist of four large-scale paintings inspired by images of fallen warriors, saints and classical mythology. If you haven’t seen any of Wiley’s large works in person, you definitely need to come out for this show. You will be amazed. To see more examples of Wiley’s work, click here.

Preview: Ron English @ Shooting Gallery

With the election just a few days away, one would think that Ron English’s latest exhibition “The Secret History of KISS” would revolve around his famous Abraham Obama character, but not quite so. The master Pop Surrealist is up to his old tricks again, this flexing his other muscles as he brings back his signature “KISS” images painted flawlessly in the form of classic renaissance-esque oils. The images from this show clearly shows that Ron’s technical skills rival his stupendous imagination and wit! There will […]

Openings: Tiffany Bozic @ Fecal Face

Tiffany Bozic’s show “Symmetrical Balance” opened last weekend at Fecal Face Gallery in SF. We have always enjoy her detailed paintings of nature and it’s interactions – and not always between species that you would expect. Of course, her clusters of birds and flowers have always been a favorite of many collectors. She not only had a couple pieces that played on this theme, but she also had a limited print that was released for this show. More info and photos after the jump.

Preview: Tin @ Copro Nason

Tin’s already near sold-out show “Tainted” is slated to open on November 8th at Copro Nason. We bring you some preview images of this new body of work from this talented artist. Most of these works were the usual pastel on sennelier la cart card (like the one above), but there were also some works in oil (something new he has been experimenting with). More after the jump.

Update: Kaws @ Gering & Lopez + Bonus

Some images were posted on Kaws’ blog of a visit by the film crew from CBS which presumably revealed some of the artwork for his upcoming Gering & Lopez show (previously teased). Looks to be more of the same abstract work we saw before as well as some SpongeBob paintings that look a little different than the ones he did for his Miami show. More after the jump.

Preview: Jim Houser @ White Walls

There is something attractive about the clean aesthetics of Jim Houser’s paintings that seem to resonate with the viewer. As you take in his whole body of work for each show, you start to realize that there seems to be a system behind his paintings where you almost feel like there is some sort of coded message he is trying to get across. His often playful characters seem to be interspersed and collaged with phrases and words from Houser’s stream of consciousness. Our friends at […]
