Previews: Atsuko Goto – “The Silence of Idols” @ Thinkspace Gallery

On March 4th, Thinkspace Gallery will be hosting a solo show from Atsuko Goto in their project room. Entitled The Silence of Idols, the works from the Japanese artist features faces cloaked in flora & fauna and inspired by the Shinto belief that “nature is animated by divinity and sacred spirits harbored in every living and inanimate thing.” The haunting images are creating with a unique selection of diluted pigments made from lapis lazuli, ink, and gum arabic applied to cotton. Releases: Jeff Soto – “The Magic Message” Print

Jeff Soto (interviewed) just released a new giclée print through Pangeaseed entitled The Magic Message. Hand embellished and featuring deckled edges, the 18 x 18″ edition was produced in a run of 50, costs $100, and will come signed and numbered. The image highlights the Atlantic Goliath Grouper classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’17: James Jean

Amidst all of the street art during this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii, one of the more unique elements of the event that could be observed were the portrait sessions with James Jean (interviewed). Recap: Urban Nation’s “Secret Dinner” Event

On the 22nd of February, Urban Nation Museum for Urban Contemporary Art in Berlin hosted a Secret Dinner event for friends, supporters, contributors and artists participating in their ongoing programs. Around 100 guests from around the globe attended the event organized by the museum director Yasha Young and Berliner Leben, a non-profit foundation that initiated the UN project in 2013. Releases: Damien Hirst – “Schizophrenogenesis” Book

Paul Stolper Gallery in London recently announced a must-have release for all the Damien Hirst fans and collectors out there. Today, they released his Schizophrenogenesis book together with Other Criteria, available in both regular and limited edition. The book covers Hirst’s Schizophrenogenesis series which was shown with the gallery back in October of 2014. With this body of work, the British artist examines our faith in science and the pharmaceutical industry through a series of sculptures and prints based on the minimal aesthetic of the medicinal pill. Releases: Jen Stark – “Drippy” Clothing Line

Recently on her webstore, Jen Stark released a small clothing line featuring here “drippy” imagery. For those interested, there are now a men’s t-shirt, women’s crop top, and leggings all featuring the psychedelic drip patterns often seen in her work with a price set at $45, $40, and $55 respectively. Releases: James Jean – TMNT Villains Figures

Following up on the first phase of his  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration with Good Smile in 2014 (covered), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing some of the villains from the cartoon series, films, and comic books. The Japanese manufacturer of hobby products is teaming up with Nickelodeon and Jean to design new collectible versions of Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang. Releases: Luke Chueh – “The Prisoner (Oxycontin)” Figure

This Saturday (February 25th, 5-9pm), Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be releasing the OxyContin 20Mg variant of The Prisoner figure based on one of his paintings. The pink version features one of the Los Angeles-based artist’s signature sad bears sitting entrapped in a pill bottle (just like his Vicodin edition).
