Currently at Rotofugi in Chicago, artist Scott Listfield has about 20 oil on canvas paintings on display collectively entitled Astronaut. Basel Week Switzerland ’15: VOLTA

After bringing you a look at SCOPE Basel, we now turn our attention to the VOLTA. Moving back to the center of the city at the venue Markthalle, their 11th year at Basel Week Switzerland sees the art fair continuing to focus on mainly solo exhibitions from artists at their gallery booths like Mark Stone for The Hole Gallery (seen above). Previews: Bumblebeelovesyou – “#WhereWeBeelong” @ Thinkspace

Opening on Saturday night (June 20th) in the Thinkspace Gallery project room is #WhereWeBeelong, a new show from Bumblebeelovesyou. The works for the exhibitioni mirror the Los Angeles-based street artist’s outdoor imagery – whimsical scenes of children at play, of course oftentimes dressed in yellow and black or peppered with references to his namesake. Previews: POW! WOW! Long Beach

Streets: Mehdi Ghadyanloo (Dulwich)

Mehdi Ghadyanloo was in recently in UK again, painting a new mural in Dulwich. This wall was an extension of his previous project with Dulwich Picture Gallery, where artists are invited to reinterpret classic master paintings from their permanent collection. On this occasion, the Iranian artist picked David the younger Teniers’ A Castle and its Proprietors oil piece from 17th century (shown bellow), and used its elements in his mural. Streets: Jeff Soto (Los Angeles)

While prepping for his solo (more on this later) opening at KP Projects / MKG later this month, Jeff Soto (interviewed) recently found time to paint a mural just down the street from the Los Angeles showspace. Featuring one of his signature owls, the piece located on La Brea and West 1st Street will greet attendees when the show opens on June 26th.
