Streets: DALeast (Perth)

Upcoming: POW! WOW! Long Beach

With the annual event in Hawaii expanding into SXSW this year and Taiwan last year, the POW! WOW! festival will finally hit the west coast on June 21-28. POW! WOW! Long Beach will feature a week of exhibitions, film screenings, talks and of course public murals. Shortly after opening his solo show at Robert Fontaine Gallery in Miami, Anthony Lister (filmed) stopped in Detroit to paint this large mural with the help of 1xRun and Inner State Gallery. Stepping away from traditional spray paint or common aesthetics see in street art, the Australian artist finished this 100 foot long piece as a great example of his expressive and unique style. Streets: Jeff Soto x Maxx242 (Riverside) – Part I

Like they have in the past (see Berlin & Luxembourg), Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242 are collaborating on a new mural in Riverside, California. The two friends and former studio mates go way back, even painting a wall together 25 years ago. A year in the making, the two are finally able to go big again in their hometown. Foundation ArtZuid is currently finishing organizing 2015 edition of their International Sculpture Route in Amsterdam. ArtZuid is an open air sculpture biennial with this year’s route consisting of about 73 monumental outdoor sculptures placed through the Berlage’s Art Deco district in Amsterdam South, just outside the city center. David Shillinglaw (see the studio visit here) recently opened a new solo exhibition entitled You Are Here at Scream Gallery in London. A large crowd gathered to see the re-creation of the studio space of the artist, like an exploration of his creative mind, and enjoyed the new body of work on canvas, paper and wood, featuring symbols and typography with British artist’s signature sunny colour palette.
