Openings: Tomokazu Matsuyama x The Standard – Snow Globes

Last week, AM caught the opening night for the unveiling of Tomokazu Matusyama’s (featured) exclusive snow globe (available here) created with The Standard Hotel. Continuing a long line of quality artist collaborations with artists like Ryan McGinness, KAWS, and Jose Parla, this unique project takes Matsu’s iconic Running Deep series of paintings and miniaturizes them into unique sculptures. Last Thursday night, Todd James (aka REAS) unveiled a new body of works at New York’s Gering & Lopez. Previews: Delia Brown – Last Exit: Punta Junta @ Martha Otero Gallery

Opening tonight at Martha Otero Gallery is a new show by Delia Brown. Entitled Last Exit: Punta Junta, this exhibition is a continuation of her Guerilla Lounging Project where parties are hosted in the luxuriously pimped out playgrounds of the upper class. The difference is that the ones depicted living it up are those of the middle and lower classes. Art Focus: Stephanie Pierce

After a little hiatus, our Art Focus is back this week and our artist is Stephanie Pierce. She currently lives and teaches in Fayetteville, Arkansas and creates these ethereal oil on linen and canvas paintings that play with light, abstraction, and fragments of color. With imagery based mainly on a room and its contents, the feeling of flux and transitory nature achieved in her work is interesting considering the simple nature of her subjects.
