For those who missed the MTV Movie Awards last weekend, Dabs Myla has sent us some images from the event. The set design was inspired by the artists’ travels and the cities they have visited, but the recreated city was meant to bring up memories of any major American […]

Openings: ROA – “Metazoa” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

After our interview & studio visit with the Belgium-based ROA ahead of his solo in New York, we attended the opening to see the results of his hard work over the last month crafting and painting a new body of work entitled Metazoa. The show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s  529 West 20th Street location featured the prolific street artist’s familiar animal imagery painted on found objects with clever interactive panels or different point of views that highlight different anatomic systems in each of his subjects. Take a look at the photos […]

Streets: Faith47 – “Una Salus Victis Nullam Sperare Salutem” (Johannesburg)

Una Salus Victis Nullam Sperare Salutem is the name of a new mural from Faith47 in Johannesburg on the corner of Fox and Rissik street. The piece captures some zebras in action along with a phrase that references Virgil’s Aeneid paraphrased by the artist – “the one safety for the vanquished is to abandon hope of safety. Surrendering to the knowledge that there is no hope, can bring deep courage.” The mural spanning two sides of an old, now-vacant department store, and the imagery brings movement to the fast-transforming […]
