After sharing photos with you earlier this week from Tomokazu Matsuyama’s (interviewed) current showcase at Harbour City in Hong Kong, we now have word of what comes next at the Tsim Sha Tsui hotspot. Starting on September 18th, KAWS will make a return appearance with an ambitious new sculpture in the Ocean Terminal forecourt, site where his previous massive Passing Through companion was situated in 2010 (covered). VNA magazine just revealed the contents and the look of the limited edition of their newest issue #27 that will be available tonight at the official release party @ StolenSpace in London. With Aryz as their cover artist, the magazine released 3 different covers – regular, subscription and the limited one. The limited edition comes packed in a screen printed box, has a screen printed cover, and includes some neat Aryz stickers. Streets: Swoon for Djerbahood (Tunisia)

Another artist who traveled to Tunisia for the Djerbahood Project (coverage here) was the Brooklyn-based Swoon (interviewed). She joined the long list of artists invited by Galerie Itinerrance to beautify the North African island. Working with her distinctive imagery and the village architecture, she certainly put up some compelling pieces for the locals to enjoy. After putting in her time on this project, she returned home to learn that she was nominated for the Smithsonian Biennial James Dicke Contemporary Artist Prize. Streets: El Mac (Toronto)

El Mac was finally able to leave the States for the first big mural project he has done out of the country since having struggled with health issues as of late. Thankfully, it looks like he has recovered nicely with his skills intact from the looks of this stunning piece that was commissioned by Eventscape in Toronto. The wall adjacent to the Gardiner Expressway was executed in collaboration with Montreal’s STARE and Toronto’s KWEST, who contributed on the background. Discuss El Mac here.

Last Thursday, AM was on hand for the opening of Materia Radiante featuring new works from Brazilian artist Bruno Novelli at Denver’s David B. Smith Gallery. Inspired by the philosophy of Henri Bergson and the imagery of the Amazon rainforest, Mr. Novelli used punchy colors and contrasting geometric shapes to explore the concept of the diminishing boundaries between objects and their environment. Streets: Os Gemeos (Vancouver) – Part I

Os Gemeos are currently in Vancouver working on an impressive outdoor project organized by the Vancouver Biennale. Painting six large silos, on the full 360 degree surface covering 23,500 square feet (7,162 square metres), this is going to be their biggest mural to date, and their first one in Canada. With this project, the twins are joining the impressive roster of international artists including Ai Weiwei, Andy Goldsworthy, Vik Muniz and Jonathan Borofsky in transforming Vancouver into an open air museum for the 2014-2016 Vancouver Biennale. Streets: Phlegm for Djerbahood (Tunisia)

Continuing our tour of the amazingly extensive street art festival (coverage here) put on by Galerie Itinerrance in Tunisia, we now turn our attention to Phlegm. Creating a series of small murals on abandoned structures, the UK-based artist played around with the architectural elements and painted appropriately placed windows and doors for his signature characters to interact with. The end result are some of our favorite pieces yet for the Djerbahood Project. Discuss Phlegm here.
