Mario Wagner recently completed his third installation for hotel and supporter of the creative arts The Standard. The huge image itself is a retro-futuristic landscape in classic Wagner stylings with imposing architectural elements devoid of any central characters. Here’s where the fun starts though – this installation in Downtown LA has an aspect that is new to us as it is an interactive “Living Collage,” meaning visitors first photograph themselves using the SNAPS app then insert themselves as characters into the image. Curiot recently took part in a new mural project Lienzo Capital in Mexico City. Organized by Museo del Juguete and Insituto de la Juiventud, this project kicked off with the Mexican artist painting a big wall entitled Quetzen-tul con una canica más. KAWS certainly has had a busy schedule in the last couple of weeks with multiple openings that drew huge crowds. The Brooklyn-based artist in the last month or so has opened UPS AND DOWN at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City and a show at the PAFA in Philadelphia. After bringing you an in-progress look at the massive mural Stephen Powers was working on in front of the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen last week, we now have photos of the completed wraparound piece to share. Previews: Herakut – “Don’t Look At Me” @ Shooting Gallery

On Saturday night, November 9th, artistic duo Herakut will be opening a new show at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco entitled Don’t Look At Me. The collaborative acrylic and spray paint works on canvas from Hera (interviewed) and Akut often exude a raw and emotionally charged feel to them and mirror the German artists’ creative output on the streets. Made in China is a group show with a difference. Within it, you’ll see work from the likes of D Young V, Akira Beard, Jessica Hess (pictured above), Ernesto Yerena and Eddie Colla amongst others. You’ll also see counterfeit reproductions of the artworks presented alongside the original pieces. Curator Eddie Colla invited a group of artists to create a painting each and then sent photos of all the work to a Chinese factory to be reproduced by artists who make copies of Monets and Picassos […]

Releases: David Choe – “Pizza Party!” Prints

Later today (3:00 PST), David Choe (featured) will be releasing a series of pizza inspired prints from Trapeze Editions. Sized at 22″ x 28″ and costing $149, the images are rendered with Choe’s signature watercolor technique and will come in three variants – the Loaded Edition of 187, the Pepperoni Edition of 23, and the Cheese Edition of 7. Over the weekend, Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles hosted an exhibition featuring new work by Kelly “RISK” Graval (interviewed) curated by Roger Gastman. Drawing from a career spanning over 30 years, the legendary hometown graffiti artist has created a diverse body of work collectively entitled Metallic Tissue.
