Streets: Dal East (London)

South Africa-based DAL and his wife Faith47 have been busy painting murals nonstop since they arrived in London several weeks ago. Our photographer on scene, Butterfly, caught up with the prolific artist as he worked on one of his walls near Brick Lane. This new piece features two large beasts fighting it out, rendered in his signature kinetic style. Check out some more in-progress photos below… Photo credit: Butterfly. Discuss DAL here.

Preview: Stephen Powers – “Visual Blues” @ Alice Gallery

Brooklyn-based artist and professorial sign painter, Stephen Powers aka ESPO (featured), is currently in Brussels where he’s setting up his solo show titled Visual Blues at Alice Gallery. For his second exhibition with the gallery, he prepared a big mural installation on the walls of the showspace as well as his latest enamel paintings on aluminum (Metaltations), but the centerpieces of the show are smaller pieces popularly known as Daily Metaltations. These 10” x 8” enamel paintings are mostly based on sketches inspired by everyday problems and pleasures, often on the […]

Being a graffiti writer himself, Nils started using his camera solely for a documenting purpose only, but it didn’t take long until he […]

Last week, the Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery in New York hosted the opening of JR and José Parlá’s collaborative showing entitled The Wrinkles of the City, Havana. The joint works were based on the time they spent in Cuba a year ago painting street murals together (covered) as part of JR’s continuing project Wrinkles of the City where he photographs senior citizens and pastes their portraits on the walls of city buildings. An example of this was outside the showspace in the form of a mural which the two created several weeks ago (covered). Take a look at all the […]
