Last week, the Black Rat Projects opened a show curated by Corey Helford Gallery entitled Letters From America. The group exhibition included American artists SABER, RISK, Ron English, and TrustoCorp taking advantage of the July 4th holiday (US Independence Day) to introduce London art lovers to work from across the pond that they may not have seen in person before. Post-graffiti visionary and Agents of Change member Remi Rough (featured) recently opened a show How To Use Colour & Manipulate People at Unit 44. The UK-based artist was last seen at the London showspace last year when he created work for a show with Stormie Mills, but this time it was a solo affair. Openings: ABOVE – “JET SET” @ Metro Gallery

ABOVE (interviewed) recently opened his solo show at the Metro Gallery entitled JET SET, appropriately named as evidenced by the Bay Area-based street artist’s globetrotting ways. The new body of work featured his signature arrows, refreshed with travel books and what look to be tourist photos. Also rounding out the exhibition was a London telephone booth installation, airline stewardesses dressed in retro 1950s “pan am” attire handing out boarding passes to showgoers, and two professional Argentinian tango dancers. Streets: Sat One – “Prisoners of the Sea” (Bulgaria)

The Munich-based Sat One recently travelled to Varna, Bulgaria to work on a multi-sided mural entitled Prisoners of the Sea. The street artist was invited by BALCANS-Magazine to wrap a tower on the top of a building which he opted to paint a selection of ships sailing and sinking through the ocean imagery. Fans in Barcelona can now see his work in the group show Homage to Moebius at Montana Gallery. Via Graffuturism.

This Saturday night July 7th, the Corey Helford Gallery will be presenting the sexy sci-fi inspired sculptures from Colin Christian and the street-inspired work of RISK with both showings the first solos with the Culver City space.
